Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the
plastic.
Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital, was on a TV
program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.
He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to foods that contain fat.
He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food
and ultimately into the cells of the body.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for
heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV
dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in
something else.
Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered
glass, Corning Ware, etc.
He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the
foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
He also pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over
foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous
toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. So cover food with a
paper towel instead.

accounting for 13% of all new cancer cases. An estimated 163,510 Americans will die in 2005 from lung cancer, accounting for 28% of
all cancer deaths. Annually, lung cancer kills more men than prostate cancer and more women
than breast cancer. While overall cancer incidence rates are declining, lung cancer
incidence rates among women continue to rise. Between 1960 and 1990, deaths from lung
cancer among women increased by more than 400%. An estimated 79,560 women in the U.S. will
die this year from lung cancer. An estimated 93,010 men in the U.S. will die this year from
lung cancer. Lung cancer is the second most common cancer among African American men and women, and

Mesothelioma
This is my blog`s first article and I want to talk about Mesothelioma which is a kind of
cancer.In the disease, malignant cells develop in the mesothelium, a protective lining
covers most of the body's internal organs. Its most common site is the pleura. It isouter
lining of the lungs and chest cavity.But it may also occur in the peritoneum (the lining of
the abdominal cavity) or the pericardium (a sac that surrounds the heart).
It is always caused by previous exposure to asbestos. Most people who develop mesothelioma
have worked on jobs where they inhaled asbestos particles, or have been exposed to asbestos
dust and fibre in other ways, such as by washing the clothes of a family member who worked
with asbestos, or by home renovation using asbestos cement products. Unlike lung cancer,
there is no association between mesothelioma and smoking
Signs and symptoms
Symptoms of mesothelioma may not appear until 20 to 50 years after exposure to asbestos.
Shortness of breath, cough, and pain in the chest due to an accumulation of fluid in the
pleural space are often symptoms of pleural mesothelioma.
Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma include weight loss and cachexia, abdominal swelling
and pain due to ascites (a buildup of fluid in the abdominal cavity). Other symptoms of
peritoneal mesothelioma may include bowel obstruction, blood clotting abnormalities,
anemia, and fever. If the cancer has spread beyond the mesothelium to other parts of the
body, symptoms may include pain, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face.
These symptoms may be caused by mesothelioma or by other, less serious conditions.
Mesothelioma that affects the pleura can cause these signs and symptoms:
chest wall pain pleural effusion, or fluid surrounding the lung shortness of breath fatigue or anemia wheezing, hoarseness, or cough blood in the sputum (fluid) coughed up In severe cases, the person may have many tumor masses. The individual may develop a pneumothorax, or collapse of the lung. The disease may stasize, or spread, to other parts of the body.
Tumors that affect the abdominal cavity often do not cause symptoms until they are at a
late stage. Symptoms include:
abdominal pain ascites, or an abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen a mass in the abdomen problems with bowel weight loss In severe cases of the disease, the following signs and symptoms may be present: blood clots in the veins, which may cause thrombophlebitis disseminated intravascular coagulation, a disorder causing severe bleeding in many body
organs jaundice, or yellowing of the eyes and skin low blood sugar level pleural effusion pulmonary emboli, or blood clots in the arteries of the lungs severe ascites mesothelioma does not usually spread to the bone, brain, or adrenal glands. Pleural tumors are usually found only on one side of the lungs.
